Crawl Space Service Areas — Huntsville & the Tennessee Valley

Ten communities across three counties — and four genuinely different sets of constraints under the floors.

Huntsville Crawl Spaces serves Huntsville plus Madison, Meridianville, Hazel Green, Harvest, New Market, Owens Cross Roads, Hampton Cove, Athens, and Decatur. Every one gets the same free crawl space inspection, and travel, where it applies, is its own line.

Every town we cover, and what changes there

Each of these has its own page, because the ground and the housing stock are not the same across the region. The short version:

Madison — What the builder put down, and what it is not

A great many Madison homes were built with a vented crawl space and a vapor barrier laid over the dirt, which sounds like the job is already done. Read what that means for a Madison property.

Meridianville — Room to discharge

The best thing about a larger Meridianville lot, from a crawl space standpoint, is that there is somewhere to put the water. Read what that means for a Meridianville property.

Hazel Green — Clearance is a cost driver, and nobody mentions it

Hazel Green has a good deal of older housing sitting on original pier foundations, and those were not built with future service work in mind. Read what that means for a Hazel Green property.

Harvest — Graded pads drain into each other

Harvest has absorbed a lot of subdivision development, and subdivision grading is designed as a system rather than lot by lot. Read what that means for a Harvest property.

New Market — One crawl space, two different spaces

Building on the slopes around New Market commonly produces a crawl space with genuinely different conditions at each end: several feet of headroom on the downhill side, very little on the uphill side, often with a stepped foundation wall between them. Read what that means for a New Market property.

Owens Cross Roads — When the water table sets the limit

Properties in the lower ground around Owens Cross Roads can sit where groundwater is close to the surface for part of the year, and that changes the engineering. Read what that means for an Owens Cross Roads property.

Hampton Cove — Your air handler is breathing crawl space air

A large share of homes in this area run heating and cooling ductwork through the crawl space, and that changes the stakes considerably. Read what that means for a Hampton Cove property.

Athens — Masonry piers need a different hand

Older Athens homes frequently rest on original brick or stone piers, and those are not simply smaller versions of a modern concrete support. Read what that means for an Athens property.

Decatur — Shallow crawls over high ground water

A lot of Decatur housing is mid-century, and mid-century crawl spaces tend to be shallow. Read what that means for a Decatur property.

Four different sets of constraints

The rural and sloped lots — Meridianville, New Market — usually have the fall needed for gravity discharge, which is a better system than a pump and cheaper to own. What they cost more in is trenching to a proper exit point. The older towns — Hazel Green, Athens — bring low clearance and original masonry piers, and clearance under about eighteen inches is a real cost driver that belongs in a quote as a measured number.

The subdivisions — Harvest, much of Madison — are graded as systems rather than lot by lot, so the water arriving at your foundation sometimes started two properties away. The low ground — Owens Cross Roads and Decatur near the river — can carry a seasonal high water table, which limits how deep a sump pit can usefully go and shifts emphasis to keeping water away from the house outside.

Three constants across all ten

The soil. Red clay below this valley takes on water at roughly an inch an hour, which is long enough for storm water beside a foundation to find a way in.

The evaporation. Bare soil in a crawl space releases moisture upward continuously, and the stack effect carries that air into the living space rather than out of the house. That is true on every lot regardless of drainage.

The order. Water, then structure, then the seal. Reverse it and a liner comes back up so somebody can reach what is under it.

Reinforced vapor barrier sealed to piers and foundation wall in a Tennessee Valley crawl space

One price list, ten towns

We do not price by zip code. A complete sealed system runs $5,500–$15,000, a vapor barrier $1,500–$4,000, water management $2,500–$7,000, and structural repair $1,500–$8,000 whether the house is in Athens or Hampton Cove. What changes is which of those the readings call for. The cost guide breaks every class out.

Address not on this list? Tell us where it is. We cover a good deal of ground beyond these nine and will say plainly whether yours is one of them.

Service area questions

Is there a travel charge outside the city?

Nothing extra for any of the nine towns on this page. Madison, Limestone, and Morgan counties are all inside our normal working radius. If your address sits past that edge, travel appears as its own line with its own number, and you hear about it when you call rather than when the quote arrives.

Does the crawl space work differ by town?

The mechanism is the same valley-wide, but the constraints differ. Rural lots often allow gravity discharge. Older towns bring low clearance and masonry piers. Subdivisions bring shared drainage paths. River-adjacent ground brings water table limits on sump depth. Those change design and price.

What is the wait for an appointment?

Usually within a day or two anywhere on this list. Anything tied to a closing date jumps the queue, because those dates are not negotiable and a crawl space finding can change a contract. If the week is already full, we tell you that instead of booking you out and hoping.

What does the free inspection include out in the county?

Everything the in-town visit includes, and more time outdoors. Rural properties have ditch lines, culverts, and neighboring high ground that all feed the same foundation, so the exterior half of a county inspection simply takes longer. The readings and the written scope come back identical in format.

What it means when we say we cover a town

It means the free crawl space inspection happens at your address on the same terms it would in Huntsville — the same moisture readings and photographs from under the house, the same written scope afterwards, and travel quoted as its own line rather than buried inside the others. If a job is far enough out that travel is material, you will see that number before you agree to anything.

Crawl inspections take an hour or so on site, so a longer drive changes our day rather than your price.

These 9 communities are where we work regularly enough to know the ground before we arrive. That is the honest boundary: not a radius drawn on a map, but the places we have looked at enough properties to recognise what we are seeing.
